School in Germany
How does this work?
Elementary and high school education in Germany encompasses all of the traditional basics including Reading, Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Computer labs are often available and are open for students use during the lunch period and staffed by trained volunteers.
School sponsored activities includes Chorus, Art, Drama and Student Council. Students also participate in study trips, some of them in association with classes from other sections of the school.
Documents needed for registration are I.D. card or childs passport, up-to-date shot records, and travel orders with family member names listed and all school records.
Other schools are available. Enrollment is based on availability. You are not limited to send your children to just the US school. .
INSURANCE FOR CHILDREN IN SCHOOL
Students in German schools are automatically insured, which covers injuries sustained while in school. However, parents are responsible for their childrens liability, for example, if a child injures another child or breaks a window. Personal liability insurance is available cheaply in Germany, can cover the entire family and is highly recommended. More information is available through the schools registrar and in the newcomers registration packets that parents and new students receive from the schools.
There is NO SCHOOL BUS Tradition in Germany
Most German cities have no bus shuttle service for students. Students have to use the local bus or train services.
